Rehoboth Art League presents three new exhibitions

June 6, 2020

Beginning Friday, June 12, and running through Sunday, July 12, the Rehoboth Art League will host its 47th Annual Members’ Fine Craft Exhibition in the Corkran Gallery. This annual exhibition, a longtime staple in the league’s seasonal calendar, showcases a wide variety of imaginative fine crafts that are unique, whimsical, and functional, including such mediums as fiber art, ceramics, metal, wood, and mixed media. The judge for this show is Milford’s Gallery 37 owner Marcia Reed, who will be giving awards for outstanding works in the show.

Also opening Friday, June 12, is Highways and Byways, the latest members’ showcase exhibition which will hang in the Ventures Gallery.

Taking a theme of open roads, this exhibition gathers juried works from RAL member artists that represent travel and includes oil paintings, pastels, digital prints, and watercolors, among other things.

Finally, the Peter Marsh Homestead opens for the 2020 season with the Painting with Words exhibition. This show pairs pieces of artwork from the league’s esteemed Permanent Collection with written responses from members of the Coastal Writers’ Group. Historic pieces are on display from artists such as Ethel Leach, Howard Pyle, and Howard Schroeder, all revered members of RAL’s Heritage Artists in the collection. Writings are displayed with paintings and placed throughout the first floor of the Homestead amidst antiques and artifacts also from the art league’s collection.

RAL’s Members Sales Gallery remains a permanent fixture on campus, and one-of-a-kind pieces are available for sale in the Tubbs and Step-Up Galleries. Paintings, photographs, ceramics, wearable fiber art, giclée prints, and more are displayed and ready for purchase.

The galleries of the Rehoboth Art League are always free and open to the public. Note there will be no opening receptions for these exhibitions.
